Orthopedics is the branch of medicine which examines the muscle skeleton system of the human body and its problems. Orthopedic surgery is the general name of the surgical interventions applied for the treatment of the lesions which are seen in the morphology of the motion system of the body, which is congenital, which are acquired later or which have occured after trauma. Orthopedic surgery is the total of the methods where expertise and technology meet in the treatment of the shape deformations seen in the body and the limbs. 

Orthopedics which has sub branches such as children’s orthopedics, arthroplasty which deals with joint sicknesses, hand surgery, spine surgery, arthroscopic surgery, foot and ankle surgery and oncologic orthopedics, is interested in sicknesses which may lead to becoming disabled if they are not treated correctly. The increase in average human life brings with it the degeneration situations in the bone structure and shape. Complaints about pain in connection with the calcification which is especially seen in people of a certain age, constitutes a major portion of the orthopedic surgical interventions.

Orthopedic surgery also deals with muscle and skeleton system tumors. Tumor which is the name given to the bulks and bulges formed as a result of the cells multiplying out of control could also be seen in the bones. Orthopedic surgical interventions should be made with great care. In addition to this orthopedic treatments cannot only be limited to surgical intervention. Patients should definetely be supported with physical therapy sessions and they have to be helped to regain their health.
